They did however win both the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. In the league, the side were forced to settle for fifth, routinely demolishing smaller teams but struggling to secure points against their fellow title contenders. Brazilian superstar Kaká top-scored with 19 in all competitions, with his contributions earning him the 2007 Ballon D’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year
